Memories from my Dad….

I remember the Queens Coronation in 1952. I was 5 years old and was at Latham St Anne’s at convalescent with the nuns and saw it on a small wooden TV. When I returned home to Walsall after the break and saw all the flags and bunting in the street and across Prices Buckles the factory I thought it was to celebrate me coming back home but it was for the Queens Coronation!

Around the summer of 1955 The Queen and Prince Philip drove through Walsall Arboretum with their children Charlie and Anne in an open top car and waved to everyone on their way through.

My third memory was when I travelled to London to collect a visa for travel and as I was walking down Buckingham Palace Road from National Express coach station I could hear singing. As I approached there were thousands of people singing Happy Birthday and the Grenadier Guards were playing Happy Birthday and I saw The Queen waving from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
